Project Estimator

Description
Independence Excavating, a recognized industry leader and one of Cleveland, Ohio's premier and diversified construction companies, seeks an experienced Project Estimator. This position is responsible for preparing competitive job estimates for site development, structural concrete, and heavy demolition commercial construction projects.
Main Functions
- Read, understand and interpret drawings and specifications.
- Solicit quotes from subcontractors and suppliers, estimate to be complete prior to formal review with Chief Estimator
- Prepare rough schedule of project for determining time frame.
- Prepare competitive job estimates by interpreting drawings and bid documents and performing take offs for labor, equipment and materials
- Review estimated productions with superintendents to finalize the bid.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education
Bachelors degree in related field is preferred.
Experience
- Five-eight years previous related experience is required.
- Must have strong organizational skills in order to handle the variety of tasks assigned.
- Must develop positive working relationships with owners and project engineers as well as local government office.
- At least 2 years experience working with large commercial construction projects.
- Ability to perform complete and accurate project take offs and estimates
- Strong project computer systems experience required
