Project Manager / Estimator

Description
Independence Excavating, a leading Cleveland area commercial construction company, seeks a Project Engineer with commerical construction experience preferred. This position will be responsible for preparing job estimates and managing all aspects of multiple commercial construction projects. The position will also be responsible for customer and vendor communication, budgeting, scheduling, contract and project administration.
Main Functions
- Prepare competitive job estimates by interpreting drawings and bid documents and performing take offs for labor, equipment and materials
- Negotiate, close and coordinate all work orders for changes in project scope
- Establish, track and manage project schedule ensuring that critical path requirements are achieved
- Ensure project financial success by establishing and managing project budgets; prepare, and report on job cost; actively works to ensure project profitability
- Work closely with operations management on the request of resources required to meet project schedule
- Promote total quality and customer satisfaction by acting as liaison between customer and field management to ensure that project work is completed per customer expectations
- Develop and write sub-contracts and purchase orders as required; recommend the selection of and oversee hired sub-contractors
Requirements
Education
High school diploma with additional schooling (AS or BS degree) or equivalent experience required
Experience
- 5-8 years experience working in estimating and project management on commercial construction projects
- Formal training or schooling in accredited Civil Engineering, Construction Management, and/or a related degree program.
- Must be competent to performing complete & accurate project take offs and estimates
- Strong project computer systems experience required
