Quality Starts at the Top

The DiGeronimo family has been in the construction business since 1956. Their experience has guided the organization in a tradition of quality construction. Careful succession planning has helped us pass the torch on to the next generation of leaders at Independence Excavating.

Strength in Management

Our field management team is one of the strongest in the industry. On average, our superintendents have worked with the company for more than 15 years. We look to combine the experience and tradition of our veterans with the fresh perspective of our new estimators, project engineers, and tradesmen.

Investing in The Next Generation

To ensure a tradition of quality construction in our future workforce, we run a co-op/intern program. Our program draws new construction professionals from colleges and universities across the Midwest. We place four to six interns side by side with our senior estimators and project managers to gain valuable work experience. In addition, we sponsor an annual AGC Scholarship Award called the Independence Excavating 50th Anniversary Awards another way to invest in the future of construction.

“The success of our company is directly related to our quality people. Anyone can purchase equipment and bid on projects, but our employees are responsible for our continuing success and growth.”

-Victor DiGeronimo, Sr.
Chairman, Independence Excavating

“They care about people in general, not just profits. I’ve rarely seen a company so focused on employee issues, like safety, for instance, which of course is critical in their industry. They hire great employees and often family members of those employees as well.”
