Project Estimator-MidAtl

Independence Excavating, a leading Mid-Atlantic area commercial construction company seeks to fill the position of a Project Estimator. Position responsibilities include preparation of competitive job estimates by interpreting drawings and bid documents, performing take offs for labor, equipment and materials, soliciting quotes from subcontractors and suppliers, as well as reviewing estimated productions with superintendents to finalize the bid. Other responsibilities include:

• Review estimated productions with superintendents to finalize the bid.
• Regular verbal and written communication with GC early in bid process when bidding as a subcontractor.
• Oversee bid process by assisting with prioritizing, answering questions, managing deadlines and resolving bigger issues associated with putting a bid together.
• Communicate with IX personnel, owners, architects, engineers and general contractors/sub’s to develop winning bids.
• Build schedule for each bid to coordinate availability of labor and equipment for each project.
• Attend pre-bid meetings for special projects.
• Perform closeout review of projects to analyze costs, profit, scope/nature of work performed and review client relationship.

• 5-10 years experience working on commercial construction projects with site development, utilities, sheeting/shoring, demolition, and/or concrete form experience required.
• Must be competent in performing complete & accurate project take offs and estimates
• Strong project computer systems experience required
• High school diploma with additional schooling (AS or BS degree) or equivalent experience required. Civil Engineering and/or Construction Management degree preferred.
• Willingness to work hard and do all it takes to do whatever it takes to get the job done right the first time.
• Ability to work well in a team atmosphere.
