Independence Excavating Finishes the Year with ZERO Lost Time Injuries!

Rob DiGeronimo, Vice President/Treasurer

Our company has been involved with many successful, rewarding projects over the years. Nothing, however, is more rewarding than our entire team of employees returning home to their families each and every night. We are extremely proud to have one of the most successful years in our company’s history in preventing accidents and injuries. For fiscal year 2011, we have worked nearly 900,000 man‐hours without a lost time injury. Our injury incident rate is less than 10% of the national average.

Despite being on several high profile projects with close scrutiny, we have not received an OSHA violation in over six years. This is particularly impressive considering we perform some of the most hazardous work types in the industry including: heavy demolition, deep utility installation and environmental remediation, to name a few. Tight schedules, large resource commitments, and high levels of complexity on our projects add to the challenges of safety execution.

Our success is simple and can be attributed to one key component ‐ attitude . By believing we can be successful, our family of employees is committed to the safety of themselves and their fellow teammates. We have developed countless policies and procedures designed to create a safe environment with a common goal in mind ‐ no injuries! The reality is, however, without buy‐in from each and every employee, our program would not reach the level of success it has.

We want to thank our entire team at Independence Excavating for continuing to prioritize our company values and treating safety as a personal responsibility. The safety awards are gratifying, but it is our families at home that make our investment in safety worthwhile.
