Lynchburg Regional Airport - GA Apron Expansion

Independence Excavating was contracted to complete the construction of a new 13.5” thick 2,400 SY P501 concrete apron connecting the airport to the recently built Freedom Aviation Hanger at the Lynchburg Regional Airport.  

The project consisted of 6,000 CY of subgrade excavation, installation of a 8,300 CF detention basin and associated outlet control structures, 2500 SY of geotextile fabric, placement of 500 CY of P209 crushed aggregate base, paving 2500 CY of 5” thick P304 cement treated aggregate base course, 4000 LF of joint sealing, turf establishment, and the relocation of existing area lights along with wind sensing circuitry.
