Pittsburgh Int'l Airport Terminal Modernization Early Site Access

Independence Excavating was contracted to perform both the site work and building work in the existing airfield and terminal as part of Pittsburgh International Airport’s Terminal Modernization Program.  Sitework included new access roads, modifications to existing fences, and security gates, modifications to the existing jet fueling system, demolition of the existing taxiway pavement, new utilities, and new P-501 concrete pavement.

The building work included the demolition of existing terminal building features, installation of a new oversized baggage elevator, conversion of existing space to new offices, and new flooring for a mock-up room. Additionally, as the first of many contracts and the start of the new construction, this contract included the installation of a new office trailer complex and trailers for the owner and future contractors.
