Asheville Regional Airport Rehab South GA Apron

Independence Excavating was contracted by the Asheville Regional Airport Authority to perform the full replacement of the existing asphalt apron with a new concrete apron. The project was completed in multiple phases to limit the impact on the airport and general aviation operations. Independence Excavating self-performed a significant scope of the project, completing the project $1 million under the Airport Authority’s budget and a month ahead of schedule.

The primary scope included the demolition of 14,000 SY of asphalt pavement, 9,000 CY of excavation, 5,000 tons of aggregate base course, 3,000 CY of cement-treated base course, and 14,000 SY of 14.5” thick concrete pavement.
